Idling devices, a VMC “evergreen product”

The first component made by VMC, over forty years ago

This product was a starting point, from which we introduced a series of items dedicated to screw compressors: minimum pressure valves, thermostatic valves, intake valves, air-ends, until the achievement of total integration of these products with PACK SMART integrated systems.

There is a thread that links our initial experience with our current know-how: we have always stood next to our clients – in fact, several VMC products have been designed in collaboration with some of our clients, making us not only component suppliers but also real strategic partners.

We combine high-quality standards with our skill to tailor our products in order to satisfy our clients’ specific needs.

 

 

Idling devices “anatomy”

Idling devices are usually installed between the head of the reciprocating compressor and the receiver, in order to control pressure.

VMC idling devices feature:

  • check valve
  • blow-down valve
  • max. pressure adjusting screw
  • min. pressure adjusting screw
  • outlet port for accelerator / decelerator (OPTIONAL)
  • "push" BUTTON (OPTIONAL)

Available in different sizes, according to the compressor’s dimensions.

 

How it works

Idling devices intercept the air coming from the compressor head. Once reached the maximum pressure (which can be regulated by the operator through the max. pressure adjusting screw), the air produced by the compressor is deviated and unloaded until the minimum pressure in the air receiver tank is reached.

Then the unloading valve closes, allowing the pumping cycle to resume until maximum pressure is reached.

The minimum pressure is also adjustable with the min.pressure adjusting screw.

 

Applications

Idling devices are commonly mounted on reciprocating compressors in the food production sector, for example for knocking down olives or pruning.

For valve inspection and ordinary maintenance, we recommend the use of genuine VMC spare parts. Instructions are indicated in the maintenance and troubleshooting document.
